Effective communication starts with “hearing.” CMC hears the voices of the stakeholders and understands their expectations on topics of CMC to their concern. In response, CMC identifies the topics of sustainability from the operation objectives of the organization, thereby setting up the sustainable development goals. CMC has established effective and fluent channels for communication with the stakeholders, which will be helpful for keeping the trends of market, economy, society and environment under control, driving the company to a higher level, and creating greater value.
CMC engaged in communication with the stakeholders through a diversity of channels to understand their needs. Through the collection and aggregation of the topics to the concern of the stakeholders, CMC prioritized these topics on the basis of the materiality and intensity of impacts of these topics through substantive analysis.

According to the identification result of respective functional departments of CMC, stakeholders in contact with or influence CMC are employees, suppliers, customers, shareholders/investors, local communities/non-profit organizations and government agencies. The information on the topics where the concerns of the stakeholders raised was collected by telephone and other means for better understanding. After the discussion and assessment of respective functional departments, CMC prioritized the material topics where concerns were raised, and confirmed these topics with proper responses. The aspects of materiality and the process of identification boundaries are shown below:

The GRI standard will be fundamental in the assessment for the collection of information on the topics that can reflect the impacts of CMC on the economy, environment, and society, or influence on the stakeholders in the evaluation and decision-making. There are 17 ESG topics being sorted out.

Extensive collection of information on topics to the concerns of the stakeholders through internal meetings, telephone interview, and official websites, and prioritize on the level of importance.

Integration with analysis of the material topics to the concern of the stakeholders. Function heads were invited to assess the impacts of good will, core strategy and ESG.

Continue to review and follow up with the topics to the concern of the stakeholders to select the material aspects for disclosure in the Corporate Social Responsibility Report in accordance with the GRI standards and revise the material topics and the process for the identification of stakeholders at the right time.

CMC conducted an online questionnaire survey on the stakeholders at its official website to assure the information disclosed attune to the expectation of the stakeholders. The questionnaire consisted of questions on 17 topics of sustainability (economic, environment, society). Stakeholders will give their scores to show the level of concerns on these topics in relation to CMC. The result will help to identify the topics to the concern of the stakeholder and their intensity of concern. There were 1,111 questionnaires sent out for the survey.
